Janine wants to paint just the sides of a cylindrical pottery vase that has a height of 45 cm and a diameter of 14 cm. To the nearest whole number, find the number of square centimeters she will need to paint. Explain the method you would use to find the lateral area.

\[\Pi dh\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is 1979.2 right?

Directrix (directrix):

Lateral Area = 2 * pi * r * h (Area of Base of Cylinder times its height) LA = 2 * pi * 7 * 45 LA = ? ---------------> I think it is 1979 ish. Check @OpenSessame

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did my test! but i used the formula pi*d*h which is basically the same thing.

Directrix (directrix):

It is the same thing. Are you saying that you have finished the Geometry final?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ill get my results in a week!

Directrix (directrix):

I hope you did well. I feel that you did.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i do too:)

Directrix (directrix):

When do you begin Algebra 2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already did algebra 2:)

Directrix (directrix):

What math course comes next? Or, are you finished?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next is college math, but that isnt for another year. So yes im done!

Directrix (directrix):

You might want to work a few assorted math problems during that year so that you won't begin college math stone cold.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got a book of 1000 math problems so yea!

Directrix (directrix):

And, a 1000 solutions also?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, with 1000 explanations!

Directrix (directrix):

That is good. Is it one of the Schaum outline type books?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk, it was like 2 dollars and seemed pretty helpful. Nice to keep myself busy!

Directrix (directrix):

The price is right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Definitely!

Directrix (directrix):

You could come to Open Study, post ten problems a day for 100 days and get discussions of the problems. That might be fun, or my idea of fun.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol, pretty good idea if i have the time! ill try that out!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or ill just stick to helping others so i can sharpen my skills too.

Directrix (directrix):

Now, that is a better idea. It will be good to see you around.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, i got one question though...Is it possible to get a 100 score on openstudy lol?

Directrix (directrix):

Yes. One person has that score. I think it was arbitrarily assigned. That is, not computer calculated. Nobody knows how the Smart Score stuff works. I was grandfathered in. A year or so ago there was a different scoring method based solely on medal count. I'll see if I can find the icon of the 100 person.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol okay i was just wondering cause seems like most people are stuck at 99.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And whats a ambassador on here? so many things that arent explained.

Directrix (directrix):

Here's the S Score of 100 person.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pretty coool to be them, i though it was like an openstudy makers account or something. Ever need help seems like hes the guy to ask!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats it? Okay...Thanks man!

Directrix (directrix):

The Ambassadors opened their own forum: http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/OpenStudy%20Ambassadors

Directrix (directrix):

Be sure and read the closed questions, too. The Feedback section is very interesting reading. All sorts of stuff there. http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/OpenStudy%20Feedback
