One week you tell three of your friends a secret. the next week, each of them tells three people the secret and the next week, each of those people tell three more people. So the first week, three new people know the secret; the week week, nine new people know the secret, the third week, 27 new people know the secret, etc. How many people find out the secret on the fifth week?

first week -- 3 people
2nd week -- 3 x 3 = 9
3rd week -- 9 x 3 = 27
4th week -- 27 x 3 = 81
5th week -- 81 x 3 = 243

or 3^5 = 243
