Find rate of change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

find the y-coordinates at x = -2 and x = 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know know how to find them.. becuase it doesnt hit -2?

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

you can find the equation of the line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can how?

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

actually the rate of change is just the slope. so just pick two points that are fairly easy and find the slope of those two points.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i could say (5,0) and (-5,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then I do y2-y1/x2-x1

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

technically yes :)

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

yep :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jennychan12 Then I get 0? And thats not an available answer

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

it's not zero :(

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

ohh i see your mistake. you wrote the wrong points. :O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope I have the available answer choices up top

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what should the points of been?

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

it's (5,0) and (0,-5).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooohhh
