Making a poem is not really that hard. Take Spike Lee's Ode to a Fish: Oh wet pet. That is it. A poem in three words. You usually need to use some set cadence or rhyme, but these days it seems like people just add line breaks into something and suddenly it is a poem. (They used to call non-rhythmical stuff prose.)

These days it is easy to find a rhyme.

Add to this the syllables in a word.

Then you can pick form or cadence, like 5-4-5 syllables, and just work with it. Just get something with 3 or 4 lines for simple ones. If you get good at it, a short story suddenly distills down to a few stanzas.
