Factor 4a^2-9b^2

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Do you know the rule \[\large a^2-b^2=(a-b)(a+b)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I just cant work out the numbers in my head at the moment. After working on this summer math for the past hour my brain is a bit fried haha

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Well, to use that rule, you have to be able to write your expression as a difference of squares, right? So you need to figure out what to square to get each term:\[\large\left( ? \right)^2=4a^2\]\[\large\left( ? \right)^2=9b^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this right? \[(2a-3b)(2a+3b)\]

OpenStudy (debbieg):

That's it! Good job! :)
