A poem about perfection and insecurity
Insecurity Insecurities lie, Somewhere deep within me, Never trusting others, Always saying good-bye So I say on my island, Away from the pain, Secluded from the world, Never taking a lane The single thought kills me, Not being perfect, Never being what I want, Because I don’t deserve it People walk past me, Without a second thought, Not a second glance, Never getting caught Until I met a man, His smile was bright, He would leave too, They always do But his persistence was strong, Never giving up, Always nodding ‘Yes’, Even when I’m wrong Soon my little island, Started to escape my grasp, He always tells me my perfections, But I never understand He seemed to grow tired, As I grew confused, My wounds started to heal, From all the abuse He grabbed me by my shoulders, Looking me in the eyes, My whole world seemed to stop, This caused me surprised He whispered three words, Changing my thoughts, Changing my views, Changing my life You can never be perfect, Inspire, believe, stay strong and positive And you will succeed
