how are hypotheses and theories related

OpenStudy (alienium):

hypotheses are likely logical explanations to related assumptions, a theory is a expanded hypothese that most likely will generealize the relation, so a theory is a postdecessor of a hypothese

OpenStudy (kayne):

Welcome to OpenStudy @ailinhsisland! I think that hypotheses are formulated plausible explanations to explain something. When it comes to science it's sort of an explicit assumption to explain something and the latter need to be tested in order to be proved right or wrong. On the other hand, a theory is a grounded set of rules which has been proved using assumptions and/or scientific experiments.
