What is the value of the y variable in the solution to the following system of equations? 13x - 6y = 20 7x + 4y = 18 2 1 -2 -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any idea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't want an answer, just a little help. I'm not sure how i solve for y :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u have to emit the x from the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u will multiply the first equatin in -7 and the second one in 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you show me how that would look?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-7*(first equation) 13*(second equation)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-7*13x)-7*-6y=20*-7____>-91x+42y=-140 tell me the second one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ShayTaylorO ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm here. sorry i was writing on paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one second, trying to figure it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13*(the whole equation)____>?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm still confused. Thanks for trying though. I will still give you a medal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Y = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, that's my guess /:
