Are those multiple choice answers? Because I don't think it's either of those (although you can only estimate roughly from looking at the graph)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

you're expected to look at the "best-fit line" in the graph and get the value when the tree is 50 inches high

no @DebbieG

OpenStudy (debbieg):

ok, well, you do it like @jdoe0001 said - find the height=50 on the vertical axis, look ove to the line, and then see where you are on the horizontal axis. I could see it being close to 20 (I think more like 30), but I'm not sure where you would get 60 from ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im looking at the height @jdoe0001 which is 50 when I look across the age of 20 & 60 are on the line

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Oooh, I see what you are doing. You are looking at the plotted points. Those are the points USED to find the best-fit line. You are supposed to look at the LINE.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm, you're not supposed to look at the dots, you're supposed to nevermind the dots and just use the line

OpenStudy (debbieg):

The line is computed from the points, so it has some equation y=mx+b You are basically being asked to estimate what x is, if y=50.

ooooh!! okay thanks guys
