Solve an inequality exactly like you would an equation, with just ONE additional rule: if you multiply or divide by a NEGATIVE number, you flip the direction of the inequality.
OpenStudy (texaschic101):
-4x/7 > 10 (multiply by 7)
-4x > 70 (now divide by 4, keeping in mind when dividing by a negative, the sign changes)
x < - 70/4 which reduces to :
x < - 35/2

thansk

Given: 7x/2 < 5.
Choose the solution set.
{x | x < 10/7}
{x | x > 10/7}
{x | x < 35/2}
{x | x > 35/2}
i got b
OpenStudy (texaschic101):
7x/2 < 5 (multiply by 2)
7x < 10 (divide by 7)
x < 10/7
we were not dividing/multiplying by negative, so the sign does not change
