What is the common ratio of the following sequence? -3, -12, -48, 192,…

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered calculating the ratios? 12/3 = ?? 48/12 = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup.. that gave me my answer 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about this question? Find S8 for the series -2 + -10 + -50 + -250 +…

OpenStudy (anonymous):

& Find S22 for -6 + (-4) + (-2) + 0 …

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I already responded to that one a moment ago. Unless it SAYS the terms are in geometric sequence, there is insufficient information.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

insufficent isnt one of the answers though...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about Find S22 for -6 + (-4) + (-2) + 0 …

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I would argue it all the way to the school board. Unless there is some way to KNOW, than that is the wrong answer. Does the test start out with "Exam on Geometric Series and Sequences - please assume, unless otherwise indicated, that all series or sequences are Geometric"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got my answer for it.. already someone helped me thnks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thee was an answer for that question.. i got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*there

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Oh, there is AN answer, if we are to assume it is a Geometric Sequence. Too bad the problem statement does not tell us that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find S8 for the series -2 + -10 + -50 + -250 +…
