Dimensional analysis
The electrical energy requirements of an average US hone are about 30 kW*h per day. How many joules of electrical energy does a typical US home use per day?
Oh my word! Dont tag that many people!!!!! *angry face
lolz
ne way to determine this is to first look at your electric utility bill and find out your usage in kilowatts. It will vary month to month and most bills will show your the last 12 months. Choose the month with the highest usage and you will know how many kilowatts of solar you need to install to have enough year around. The excess during the other months are automatically sold back to the utility. Now that you know your top usage, you can use a thumbnail calculation of 200 watts per panel (based on a Kyocera panel) to determine how mant you need. For example, if you need 30 kilowatts (30, 000 watts) and one panel gives you 200 watts then 30,000 divided by 200 gives you 150 panels. now you may or may not have room on your roof to accomodate those panels WITHOUT THEM BEING SHADED. Shade analysis is a seperate discussion. In short, different parts of your roof are shaded at different times of the year and a panel needs to placed where it isn't ever shaded. But lets assume your roof has nothing on it and there are no trees near by to cause shading. A panel is about 2 feet wide and 4 feet long so it takes up about 8 square feet. 150 panels at 8 square feet each is 1200 square feet. With a 1500 square foot home that means filling the top of your home. The process of determining how many panels to put on your roof is more detailed then this but this method illistrates the calculations that would finally need to be made.
lol, everyone got tagged
1 kilowatt hour = 3 600 000 joules
Just use that conversion
he just tagged the whole world....everyone give him a medal lets see how many we can get him
ok
^smh
Thank you for the helpful responses (and the medals!)
gIVE me A Medal!!
A rate of 1200 watts is 1200 joules of energy per second or 4.32 MJ per hour. That is equivalent to 1.2 kW-hours every hour.
Give me a medal if you have ever rode in a school bus!!!!!!!!
@SOS101 deserves medal as he actually helped with the question lol
I just gave it to him :)
Lmao Thank You @TeemoTheTerific
I like tagging.
we can see that
While everyone is here, who has rode in an AmTran bus?
