The figure below shows two similar right triangular prisms. What is the volume of Prism B rounded to the nearest hundredth cubic unit? 58.59 46.88 66.41 37.50

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

If they are similar that would mean they are in some ratio right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Of course

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Calm down! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am calm

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

So 4/5 = 5/6.25 = 3/x 4/5 = 3/x x = 15/4 So now find the volume by finding the area of the base triangle of the second triangle and multiplying with the new height = 15/4! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's not an answer

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

What did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

117.18

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Is 58.59 an answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, but what you told me to multiply want an answer, how did you get 58.59?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Okay check your calculation! h*b/2 * HEIGHT OF PRISM! h=5 b=6.25 HEIGHT OF PRISM = 15/4 Now solve! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, nothing was said about dividing by 2 though haha. Thanks!

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
