I need help with converting

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

@modphysnoob @ybarrap @jdoe0001 @Loser66 You have helped me before I know you can now.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, the lawn is 24 feet wide and 25 feet long, how many square feet are in it? well, 24 x 25 each square foot will hold up to 1150 snowflakes in 1 minute so in 60minutes, they'd hold 1150 x 60 |dw:1377378220528:dw|

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Sorry, its 24x20

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

oh yes, shoot, I keep making those darn typos, yes, 20

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so the how many square feet are there? well, 25 x 20

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

I just lost myself. Wait a sec... It is 20x24 So 1150x60x480?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

lol

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Then the mass of one flake is 1.90 mg

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

So 1.90mg is 00000190kg, right?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

once first you get the amount of square feet then how much they accumulate per hour one times the other is how much snoflakes there are to find the weight in kilograms, get the product of those 2 above and divide by 1000 1kg = 1000g

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

But the thing says a flake has a mass of 1.90 mg?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes, so pretty much is saying it has a mass of 0.0019 kilograms

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

I guess i need coffee. I thought the difference from a mg to a kg was 6 decimal places.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hhehe, man you're correct, yes, I'm mistaking grams to mgs, yes, it'd be 1,000,000 mg to 1kg

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Pheww. lol. Let me see if I can work it out.

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

I got 62.93.

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

kg

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

What do you think @jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap, is what I got 480 x (1150 x 60) => 33120000 * 1.9 => 62928000 mg \(\bf \cfrac{62928000}{1000000} = 62.928\)

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):
