What are three examples of diction in The Odyssey by Homer? I'm stuck, I've been re-reading this story and I still unfortunately haven't grasped the concept of diction.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/diction 1. style of speaking or writing as dependent upon choice of words: good diction. 2. the accent, inflection, intonation, and speech-sound quality manifested by an individual speaker, usually judged in terms of prevailing standards of acceptability; enunciation. So, diction is all about speech, but you have a written work. That means you need to look at how people are quoted as speaking in it. Do they use flowery, poetic speech that is full of cadence and rhyme? Are they formal, using sir all the time? Do they talk like a pirate?
