Volume of a triangular prism of base area 18cmsq is 270cmcube. Find the height of the prism

OpenStudy (callisto):

Volume of prism = height * base area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What abt the height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do u finds he height?

OpenStudy (callisto):

Make use of the formula volume of prism = height * base area. You have the volume, and the base area. Substitute them into the formula and the only unknown you need to find is the height.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Prism Volume = base area * length 270 = 18 * length length = 15 cm (don't really have to solve for this but I did) 18 sq cm = triangle area Triangle must be an equilateral (also equiangular). When bisected this forms two 30 60 90 triangles. Area = (side * height) / 2 side = height/1.732 Area = height/1.732 * height Area = h² / 1.732 31.176 = h² height (of equilateral triaangle) = 5.5835472596 half side (of equilateral triaangle) = 3.2237570783
