which of the following are true of an enzyme? (mark all that apply) it is a protein it is a catalyst it binds to many different substrates it is small compared to its substrates.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Welcome to OpenStudy! @chelsie_Todd Let me tell you! Enzymes are proteins and proteins are macromolecules that is they're bigger molecules! Enzymes are catalysts because they lower activation energy. Substrate is a molecule upon which an enzyme acts... Enzymes catalyze chemical reactions involving the substrate(s).. And each Enzymes works on certain specific substrate! Which Option you can eliminate ?

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

First 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yeah kawai !

OpenStudy (aaronq):

technically, it should only be the middle 2... because ribozymes are not protein... but let's not get too specific here ;P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait wait wait! You meant enzymes are not catalysts??????????

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the middle 2: it is a catalyst it binds to many different substrates

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm! I have to agree with you! You know very well!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I didn't studied it yet :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 50% agreed!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

don't just agree with me! look up "ribozymes". haha yeah, people never really think about them when talking about enzymes, i doubt that they even mention them in high school.
