Solve the following system of equations: X+y=2 -2y=-5x+10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) x+y = 2 --> x=2-y OK?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now sub 2 - y in for x in the other equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean? Can you show me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of course!wait...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x = 2-y\] \[-2y = -5x + 10 --> -2y = -5(2-y) + 10 \] then: \[-2y = -10 + y + 10 --> -2y - y = -10 + 10 --> -3y = 0 --> y=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+y = 2 --> x + 0 = 2 --> x = 2-0 = 2 --> x = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Juliettgriffin , did you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thank you!!
