OpenStudy (littlenugget):

Determine whether the equation is linear in x.

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

\[2\sqrt{x}+5=10\]

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

No it wouldn't be because the degree here of this equation is 1/2 [sqrt x] And for a linear polynomial it must have a degree of 1 [x] Understood? :)

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

So basically because the x is like this: \[\sqrt{x}\] ?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Yes under square root ACTUALLY means! x^1/2 which means x's largest power in your equation is 1/2 So it IS NOT linear! Understood? :)

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

ohhhhhh i understand now, Thank you!!!!!! :DDD

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

:)
