The length of the base of a triangle is 6.6 cm and its height is 4.9 cm. If the area of the triangle is half of the product of its base length and height , the area of the triangle is _____ cm.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This one is a plug in and simplify question. The formula for area of a triangle is \(\frac{bh}{2}\) where b is the length of the base and h is the length of the height. So in this case: \[A=\frac{bh}{2}=\frac{(6.6)(4.9)}{2}=\frac{\frac{66}{10}\frac{49}{10}}{2}=\frac{3234}{200}=16\frac{34}{200}=16\frac{17}{100}={16.17}\]
