-5|3z+8|-5=-20 need some help :(

This is what I THINK I'm not a 100% sure because I haven't done this in a while, but here I go! So you would first distribute the -5 into the absolute value 3z + 8. That would get you to 15z (would be -15z but if you take it out of the absolute value bar everything becomes positive) + 40 (same thing with it becoming positive) -5. Then you subtract the 5 from the 40 to get 35. You now have 15z + 35 = -20 subtract the 35 from each side and then divide 15 from each side to get your z. Your answer should be "plus or minus 3.67" Like I said, I'm not 100% sure, but I hope this makes you start thinking about if it's right or not.
