In a cross between organisms having genotypes of AaBbCc and AaBbcc, what proportion of the offspring would be expected to be aaB_Cc?

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

hehehe hold on.....i remember there was an easy way to finding this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

trying to use the punnett square is tiring and sort of confusing for me

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

You dont need it.....but hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

I got it...... do you want me to tell you the answer or show u my work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you show the work please

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Here is what I did: Since there was AaBbCc break it down to 3 different category 1)Aa 2)Bb 3)Cc What are the chances of getting Aa? |dw:1377576657480:dw| What are the chances for BB or Bb?|dw:1377576786009:dw| The chances for Cc is the same as Aa (50%) So now if you want AaBBCc, you multiple the chances of getting each individual sets of letter: Aa(50%)xBB(25%)xCc(50%) = the answer (you can use a calculator) For AaBbCc = Aa(50%)xBb(50%)xCc(50%) = the answer

thanks i finally understand...my teacher was making it much more complicated..thanks for not just giving me the answer and actually taking the time to explain it

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Im like you. If the teachers explains it, Im like.......I still dont undersand. But if the prof did it step by step, and I can trace the logic aka writing it down! Then I would have a better grasps of the concept.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yesss! we're totally on the same page..i actually had to buy the Genetics for dummies book because I felt so slow and left behind in the class. Unfortunately, my prof. fails to explain the concepts :/

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

My advice is to find the smart person in your class that you know you can trust. Befriend them and dont make it obvious that your only using them for the help(LOL). Build a friendship and they would help you in explaining anything. I had an ego and I thought I was fine with studying by myself. But I wasnt getting the grades I wanted until I made a smart friend. I hated myself for having an ego and wished I made more friends.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for the advice :)

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

I gotta help those in need :)
