A preposition links nouns, pronouns and phrases to other words in a sentence, a prepositional phrase is a modifying phrase consisting of a preposition and its object: From my grandmother From = preposition; my = modifier; grandmother = noun.
A verb that forms its past tense and past participle by adding -d or -ed (or in some cases -t) to the base form. (Also known as a weak verb.) The majority of English verbs are regular: “Lightning struck a tree,” struck is the verb and shows the action that’s going on.
