ok... you need the 1st derivative... solve it for x to find the stationary points. next find the 2nd derivative. solve it for x... possible points of inflection. with the stationary points from the 1st derivative, substitute them into the 2nd derivative to determine their nature f"(a) > 0 minimum f"(a) = 0 horizontal point of inflection f'(a) < 0 maximum hope this helps...
