OpenStudy (myst):

which of the following examples of an ecological study involves the ecosystem level of organization? 1. effects of competition on survival 2. effects of an invasive plant species on birds nesting sites 3. effects of a disease on population size 4. The effects of human activities on biogeochemical cycling

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do u think?

OpenStudy (myst):

I ruled out 2 and 4 as per the 6 levels of organization (ecology): 1. Biosphere - This is where all living things on Earth live. 2. Biomes - A large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat. 3. Ecosystem - A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment. 4. Community - All the people living in a particular area or place: "local communities". 5. Populations - A particular section, group, or type of people or animals living in an area or country. 6. Species - This is the most basic unit of biological organization.

OpenStudy (myst):

I mean 2 and 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 is right

OpenStudy (myst):

Why do you say that? Cause 3 says effects of a disease on population size which refers to the 5th level of organization which is "Populations". The question is involves the ecosystem level of organization?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 seems correct to me!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

effects of an invasive plant species on birds nesting sites this one!

OpenStudy (myst):

Ryaan I will let you know what the answer is when the textbook arrives. I feel it might be either 2 or 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is not 3. I got it wrong when I answered it that way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 4
