Length times width. Since a square has 4 sides of the same length, side times side or side squared also works.
@gypsy1274 so would it be 39.0625; then round it so.. 39.1?
I'm not familiar with the significant digits, I think it would mean to round to two digits since the original measurement is given to two digits.

according to wiki For multiplication and division, the result should have as many significant figures as the measured number with the smallest number of significant figures. so nearest hundredth aka .01
39.0625 would be 39.06 we rounded to the nearest hundredth. Wait for second opinion tho.
