Draw a right triangle that has an angle with a tangent of 1.

When
\[\tan(x)=1 \]
\[x=\tan^{-1}(1)=45^o\]

So, to check it, using
\[\tan(x)=\frac{opposite}{adjacent} \\ \tan(x)=\frac{2}{2}=1\]
