The hormone ,testosterone, is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the reason why you have facial hair. Its a part of the male development. Not all males will have facial hair tho. They might produce less DHT or have less-sensitive follicle receptors for DHT.

DHT is also the culprit for hairloss.
