x/2.8=-6.2

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Just multiply both sides by 2.8 to cancel the fraction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take 2.8 to other side and multiply with 6.2. you will get value of x.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

x/2.8 = -6.2 x/2.8 = -1/6.2 x(6.2) = -2.8 6.2x = -2.8 Now, divide....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain me 2nd step @Compassionate

OpenStudy (phi):

\[ \frac{x}{2.8} = -6.2\] multiply both sides by 2.8 \[ \frac{x}{2.8}\cdot 2.8 = -6.2\cdot 2.8\] notice that this is the same as \[ \frac{x\cdot \cancel{2.8}}{\cancel{2.8}} = -6.2\cdot 2.8\] we can cancel 2.8/2.8 because anything divided by itself is 1 you get \[ x= -6.2\cdot 2.8\] can you finish ?
