Brad wants to buy flowers for his friends with $21. The daisies are $2 each and the roses are $3 each. He buys 3 more Daisies then roses. How much did the roses cost?

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Do u have any ideas on what to do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Alright well start off with low numbers and try to figure out how many of each he buys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Maybe 5 daisies and 2 or 3 roses?

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Remember it needs to equal 21 dollars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried that but if i do three roses I only have 2 more daisies.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

This is weird.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Do u round to the nearest rose? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

U seem like ur right

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Bc that's $19 and u have 2 more daises than roses

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Wait wait wait

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

U are off by 1

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

I was thinking he bought 2 more than roses

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

But it's 3. So it would be 6 and 3.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Bc 6x2=12 and then 3x3=9 12+9=21
