Can two planes intersect a third plane without intersecting each other?

OpenStudy (oaktree):

Yes again. Think about it like this.

OpenStudy (oaktree):

|dw:1377729692992:dw| I drew the planes from the side so you only see a line because I shudder to think of the consequences if I tried to draw legitimate planes.

OpenStudy (oaktree):

But you see how that would work? Kind of like how two lines can intersect a third line without touching. They just need to be parallel.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea. i think i still haven't completely wrapped my mind around that concept. you can probably tell that geometry is not my thing. haha.

OpenStudy (oaktree):

I get it. Don't worry - it wasn't for me either, but it gets better over time.

Thanks. I just started taking this course this year, this was my first lesson and i'm trying to get everything straightened out without any problems.
