I have $100 to buy food for one month. I get a paycheck each week. How much money do I need to take out of each paycheck for food? (show your equation)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont even know...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, there are (about) 4 weeks in a month. If you split that evenly for the weeks, you have 25 per week.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thus, you need to take out $25 per week for food.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I BELIEVE it should look like: y=100 - 25x I am not sure it could be anything else, because they only give you two variables.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The 100 comes from the 100 you have for food. The 25 comes from how much per week. If you continually add or subtract a number weekly, you would add x, making it 25x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I asked a friend and she thought 100/4=25 does that sound right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, it would be right if that is the kind of equation you are working with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you need an equation how you got the answer, or do you need an equation to represent the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says to complete each question and show the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I'm not sure there what they want.. You could write the equation I gave you AND the equation you think. If you don't work with equations like the one I gave you, don't include it in your answer.

I hate it when directions arent very clear, thank you!

No problem!
