OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

determine if this equation represents exponential growth or decay

OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

\[y = (0.9)^{x}\]

OpenStudy (loser66):

just take few value of x , you can see whether it is up or down. for example: x =1 --> y = 0.9 x =2 --> y = (0.9)^2 = 0.81 x =3 --> y = (0.9)^3 = 0.729 you see!! x increases, y decreases--> so the function is.... ????

OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

decay?

OpenStudy (loser66):

Yup

OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

thank you! would you be willing to stick around and help me with others

OpenStudy (loser66):

In general, to exponential equation, the base >1 --> function grow the base <1 --> function decay. your base 0.9<1 --> decay

OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

The parent function of the following graph is \[f(x) = (\frac{ 1 }{ 2 })^{x}\]

OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

what is the equation of the following graph?

OpenStudy (loser66):

hey, close this post, open a new one
