Answer :) What exactly defines the photon nature of light?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's kind of wave :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then photon ?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

H:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I want answer not sight .!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The \(quantum \ photons\) are not as easy as you think! You have to read a lot of books and visit many sites! Then you will give your answer...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think you don t want to answer me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No!we show the way to people here! and I \( \Huge \color{red}{can't}\) give you the answer...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. you can t .!! Just it !!!

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

@E.ali what u think the answer could be ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about you ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are some experiments that can not be explained by considering light as wave and also there are some other experiments that tells that light is wave. And now we know that it's not either wave or particle but it's both wave and particle. And which nature you are going to encounter that depends on the experiment you are doing. May sound strange and not convincing but you have to accept it. There are some very classic experiment in history that leaded to quantisation of energy. for example, Black body radiation, photoelectric effect, Compton effect etc. It was seen the the interaction or exchange of energy is not continuous as in the case of typical wave interaction but rather it was found discrete and instantaneous. Not only this there are so many arguments in the favor of particle nature of light. If you are interested you must read De Brogile's Ideas for dual nature of matter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@wini_boson , It was great! i want to know more about this and you said "If you are interested you must read De Brogile's Ideas for dual nature of matter" how can I know more about this book?do you know any sites about this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What book ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not book

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"his Ideas"

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

Hey its basic of Science @PFEH.1999 hey nice paragraph by @wini_boson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, it's not a book it's a hypothesis made by De Brogile. You just google "de broglie dual nature of matter".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you very much :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cant ask my question yet !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks:) @chmvijay

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

its photoelectric effect is that right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@E.ali , What exactly is your question? We gave you alot of information but you are still saying "You didn't answer my question"!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha . My question answer is one word . yes or no ?!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you think "What exactly defines the photon nature of light?" is a Yes/No question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What you mean by 'yes or no'?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

its good you both @PFEH.1999 and @E.ali should read the fundamental of this subject

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes,I will read it ;) but do you know a good book of this subject?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

first read the ur school TEXT book then i will give u a book on the following subject OK @PFEH.1999

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the light photon or wave or both of them ?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok... I found this book,is it good?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@E.ali , both of them @wini_boson said...

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

both of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ all : how ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you read it,you wouldn't ask this question: "There are some experiments that can not be explained by considering light as wave and also there are some other experiments that tells that light is wave. And now we know that it's not either wave or particle but it's both wave and particle. And which nature you are going to encounter that depends on the experiment you are doing. Not only this there are so many arguments in the favor of particle nature of light. If you are interested you must read De Brogile's Ideas for dual nature of matter."

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

nice time pass u both are doing here haaa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D @chmvijay , was that book - that I attached - good or not?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

good one :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The concept of a photon came up because it was found that in interactions of electromagnetic waves with matter a discrete amount of energy equal to hv ( where h is Planck's constant and v is the frequency of the radiation) is transferred. This bundle of energy is called a photon.
