OpenStudy (erinweeks):

Find the specified vector or scalar.

OpenStudy (erinweeks):

u = -4i + 1j and v = 4i + 1j; Find ||u+v||

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

I suppose here we have to find the magnitude of the absolute value or the reverse! First just add the 2 vectors -4i + 1j + 4i + 1j ||2j|| So magnitude is 2 units! I think that IS how you do it! @Preetha ?

OpenStudy (psymon):

You got the answer correct, kinda.....and I think by accident, haha.

OpenStudy (erinweeks):

im not sure i basically got at the end 0i + 2j and just wanted to make sure the answer was 2

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

It is 2 because 0i is a zero vector which does not exist in this case!! So yeah...2 is the answer!! :D

OpenStudy (psymon):

It is 2. Ill show ya what you do, though. The magnitude of a vector is basically its length. Here is just a vector I invent to show you a picture: |dw:1377759934457:dw|
