If this circuit is used to energize 1-H coil with 1 A of current...? then allows the inductor to discharge through a 2 ohm resistor. how do determine the time constant and resistor current after the switch is opened for 1 second? |dw:1377781499336:dw|. Your equation for the time constant (tau) is correct. The time constant = 1 H/2 Ohm or 1/2 second.
