In her recipe for homemade pasta sauce, Becky uses green peppers and tomato sauce in a ratio of 1 to 3. If she uses 6 cans of tomato sauce, how many green peppers should she use?

Remember that ratios are just the same thing as fractions. So 1 to 3 would also be expressed as 1/3. What you just need to do is change the denominator (tomato sauce) to 6. This would be an equivalent fraction becuase 6 can be divisible by 3. Now if 6/3=2 then what you just need to do is multiply 1*2=2. That would make the answer as to: 2/6.
