In how many ways can a family of six be seated at a round table if the mother and father must sit together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it was six people with no conditions, it would be \(5!\) does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get that, but that does not help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you can treat the mother and father as one unit, since they have to sit next to each other therefore we can think that we have 5 people instead of 6, so it is \(4!\) except... the mother and father can switch places so really it is \(2\times 4!\)

Okay that seems reasonable, I will try that answer. Thanks.
