draw two structures one straight chain and one ring of a carbohydrate with the chemical formula of (ch2o)6

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

For the chain: ...OH..H..OH..OH ......I.....I....I....I R---C---C---C---C---CH2OH ......I.....I....I....I .....H..OH..H...H Substitute the R with CHO (this is an aldehyde with a terminal carbonyl-group and an attached hydrogen) carbonyl-group: C=O The structure of the aldehyde is not linear! note: remember that the C in the aldehyde stands right (connected with the last C) when you draw it. For the ring form you should read about monosacharides and their cyclic forms. Since you have 6 carbon atoms I guess the ring will be a pyranose ring (6 edges) with a ring oxygen (oxygen bridge). This can easily be looked up with a bit of research put into it.
