Umm... I meant how do I solve it step-by-step?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Learn your multiplication tables then you will know how.

if your having so much trouble with it, i hate to say it but use a calculater then go to your teacher to explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My problem is I know the answer is 0.0051400 but I don't know why(used a calculator), can someone please explain it to me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill try but i havent done something like this in so long so ill see what i can do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.0146 2.0146 so then 2x0=0 (you multiply in order) 2x0=0, 2x0=0,2x2= 0.0025 0.0025 4, 2x5=10 {so what i did was take 2 and multiply by every bottom number} {now i will do the same thing in order but starting with 0 this time}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry it looks like a mess

Starting with the ones digit on the bottom, multiply it by each of the digits on top remembering to carry when necessary. Move to the next digit, write a 0 in the ones place, then multiply by each of the digits on top. Add the columns of numbers. Then count the decimal places from both numbers. Put the decimal that many places from the right in the answer. Lattice multiplication (in my opinion) is much neater and more organized. Here is a link if you want to learn it. http://www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic/multiplication-division/lattice_multiplication/v/why-lattice-multiplication-works

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Is this query cleared? Well a very fast way to multiply is just using the digits without the zeros so muliply 20416x25 and get the numerical answer but the actual numbers are 2.0146 and 0.0025 so count 8 decimal places from the end of the answer and you are done. I hope I have successfully made this easier for you. :) Ask if you're having a doubt. :D
