What makes the polyatomic cutions/anions have the charge they have? For example, why is SO4 2negative and NH4 1positive and not 3negative and 2positive? Thank you in advance :)

Bcoz charge on poly atomic is due to the some of the charge of each ion constituting that polyatomic in some polyatomics they are balanced and total charge will be zero but in some cases its not sio they remain as charged + ve ly or -vely
