What development in 1955 marked the beginning of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s career as a civil rights leader?

OpenStudy (opcode):

I believe the development you want is the Montgomery bus boycott. This is when Rosa Parks was arrested due to not giving up her seat for a white man, you see back then there was segregation on buses, and African Americans had to sit in the back of the bus. When Rosa Parks decided not to move to the back she was arrested. Soon after than people began a Montgomery bus boycott in which they chose Martin Luther King Jr as the leader of this movement. I have attached a pdf that included the congressional records, which I highly recommend you read.
