Are there any prerequisites for being an ambassador? Is a high SmartScore level required?

Just wondering, since most ambassadors have a SmartScore level of 50+. I also heard an application form is required...

Most ambassadors have a smartscore of 50+ because you will usually get a smartscore above 50 after being on this site for several weeks.
