Now to choose between A and D, look at the part \(f(x) = x^2 - 1\) for \(x \ne -2 \). Since there is an x squared, it is a parabola. This parabola has an undefined value at x = -2. Which graph A or D, has an open circle at x = -2 in the parabola? That's your answer.
