Based on the hierarchical organization, order these terms from smallest to largest Carbohydrate Mitochondria Water Carbon Skin cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Carbon element - Water Molecule - Carbohydrate - Mitochondria - Skin Cell Carbon being the smallest because it's what makes up all living things and is an element (made up of just itself). Water molecules are the next smallest because it's a compound, composed of 2 hydrogen and 1 oxygen molecule. Carbohydrates come in 3rd because they are usually made up of long chains carbon, oxygen and hydrogen atoms called polymers that are responsible for many important functions in living things. They act as long term food storage molecules, as protective membranes for organisms and cells, and as the main structural support for plants and constituents of many cells and their contents. Mitochondria is an actual part of eukaryotic cells. They are responsible for creating ATP molecules by using oxygen and metabolic sugars in the Krebs Cycle. They are obviously bigger than the previous choices. Then you have the skin cell, which basically dwarfs the rest of the options.

"Carbon being the smallest because it's what makes up all living things and is an element (made up of just itself)".. you mean made up of subatomic particles :P, good stuff though.
