Are the scientists observing the Higgs Boson directly or indirectly? Provide at least one detail to support your answer

as far as i know, we cant directly observe these particles..scientists track their every movement and when they collide hundreds of particles shoot from the atom and each one possess different momentum which are recorded by detectors and the energy of a particle is calculated and if it matches with the theoretically predicted value ,...a new particle! this website says it all... http://home.web.cern.ch/about/how-detector-works
