OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

When given three points in a three dimensional plane how would you determine if the triangle formed by those points is a right triangle?

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

I know that to determine if it is iscoseles you just find the length of the three line segments created by these points but how do you determine if it is a right triangle in general?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

define 3 vectors and dot product them. if any 2 dot to zero its a right triangle.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or define the 3 lengths between them to see if the smaller valies pythag to the largest

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

thank you

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youte welcome
