What are 4 consecutive odd integers with the sum of 184?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

43+45+47+49 Just guessed it would be near 45 because 180/4 is 45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

consecutive means in order ex. 1 2 3 4 5 consecutive odd integers ex. 1 3 5 7 if we consider the first odd number as the variable "x" then the next consecutive odd integer would be "x+2" and the next consecutive odd integer would be "x+4" and so on and so forth

@manumben that is actually a brilliant solution

Ahh ok, this makes a lot more sense now. Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in terms of the variable method, you would get x+x+2+x+4+x+6 = 184 at this point you add up like terms and just solve for x then figure out the rest of the numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well would have been better if i used 184/4 which gives you 46 and that is the average number for all 4 values, knowing they are consecutive odd numbers you know 2 are the first 2 odd lower and the others are the first 2 odd numbers higher
