Noticed the lectures are quite spread around for the 8.01SC course , will you still cover everything by following the videos as given by the site or would it be better to go through every lecture in full? (8.01.8 the final video on circular orbits begins 5 minutes into the course and it doesn't give the explanation on escape speed)

The SC courses are intended for self study and should be complete and self contained. It's possible that the SC version omits something from the non-SC version, but the SC course should be complete. I personally think it's better to stick with the SC course since it's intended to be used for self study, where as the non-SC course simply provides course materials without any thought in regards to self study pedagogy.

I've been watching the full lecture videos as per the fall 1999 order. I have found this perfectly ok, but as per Wayne's comment, don't expect them to exactly to line up with the latest materials.. I normally just watch 1 lecture ahead before undertaking the sample problems, and I haven't had any issues.
