K is the midpoint of JL,JL =4x-2, and JK=7. Find x,KL, and JL.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if K is the midpoint of 4x-2, that means it's halfway on the line, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the same as saying that from one end (J, in this case) to K is half of 4x-2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which means that JK is 2x-1. now we know JK = 7, so 2x-1 = 7. if we solve that we get x = 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

KL is the same as JK, and we know that JK = 7, so KL = 7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now that we know x = 4, we can find JL (4x-2). after you do the math, you get 14. So x = 4, KL = 7, and JL = 14.

you are awesome... as anyone ever told you that?!!! :D
